This is a thought provoking out of the box presentation geared to challenge our usual way of thinking of how were taught Philippine history in high school and college. This is not an attempt to reverse or thwart what was already recorded by historians. The point is to raise consciousness and awareness of our thought process in looking back into history. Do you really think and believe that our colonizers policy were for the good of the Filipinos or was it in pursuit of their own selfish designs.

Philippine history is one arena in which we must struggle to free our minds so that we may at last act in our own interest. But the task of re-examining our past will not be easy since to a certain greater or lesser degree we are all captives of colonial adherence. We need to have our own point of view, based on undistorted facts as a basic framework of our belief system which we must adhere.

  • @fartherasia thanks, really interesting

  • @MartijndeGraaf1001 the title of the video is 'things europe never invented'.. search it here on ytube. Europeans have great contributions to the world. But we need to acknowledge others too.

  • @fartherasia no problem, which video?

  • @MartijndeGraaf1001 im very sorry for the late reply.. around 550AD in China... watch video here on youtbe things europe never invented..

  • @fartherasia who flew before them, please?

  • Its because we have eurocentric books here in the Philippines. Meaning most of our books are based on the perception of the western world. For example, it is true that the first printing was done in Nuremburg. BUT this is true only to the western world. Because the Chinese were already doing printing 800 years earlier. in fact until now we still believe that the wright brothers were the first men to fly.

  • Magellan discovered Philippines but he wasn't the one that FIRST discovered the Philippines.

  • depending on who authored it, some history books are distortion from the truth. authors interject their own agendas, their own opinions of what happened. this is said to be true to some of the Philippine History books authors. some are so ignorant and so wrong of what transpired. some books are not well research, some are myths. publishing history books for Philippine schools is big business and awarded contracts for book publication and distribution are mired in corruption at HISTORY'S expence.

  • i guess Magellan discovered that there were already inhabitants living in the islands although he thought otherwise but to his surprise! what he discovered was that there's other world other than the european continent which he already knew. no soul brave enough to venture out into the unknown unchartered waters of the eastern hemisphere. YES, i agree with you, what he really discovered is already a discovered islands inhabited by various native clans. he was an unwelcome intruder and was slain.
