November 1st 2009 was the run of the Blue Ridge Special From Salisbury to Asheville North Carolina, First passenger train to Asheville in over 13 years. I caught the special at Azela few miles from Asheville.

  • From a distance, P42's look awful plain, but up close they're complicated machines under that simple shell, nice catch, wish I could see some Amtrak more in Cincinnati.

  • is this the same line that runs by your house?

  • NS always seems like they are pretty generous with thier speed limits for trains after the FRA rates the track. And I doubt an NS engineer would speed there too.

  • there was an amtrak crew on board but since they arent qualified on the s line, n.s. had to furnish a crew. i was more than happy to take this one.
