  • It is a PSC motor; so it doesn't use extra start-up power needed for normal running. Other motors keep using the full start up power even when only running. It is kind of like flooring the accelerator pedal on your car engine and then riding the brakes to keep it at the speed limit. The un-needed power dissipates in the form of heat. Energy Star sould start covering attic fans because this one would win for efficiency. Ultimately the consumer wins by being informed on the cost to operate.

  • I'd be willing to bet the motor is a PSC type, I know those tend to run pretty cool. Does it have oil ports on it?
