Nihilism is in essence religion. It is an attempt to move outside of subjective understanding of the objective and place yourself above, like an entity outside of reality, looking in at structures and saying; here is no values.

Ethics is nothing more then evolutionary structures, they are very real, and trying to say they do not exist is like saying you have no body. It is there, it is real, and it is objective just like everything else that has a physical form. Remember that the brain is physical; and as a hardwired part of it, we find ethics.

If they have values? Well, evolution decide function. If it has a function; it has a "value"; that is why it exists. Come down from your meta-plateau and join the real world of our existence; your philosophy does not guide anything, we all know there is nothing except the desert of the real.

There is a ethical center in the brain. Evolution has its say here you know; we have arms because evolution made them survive; they where useful. Same goes with ethics; it is useful to make us stop ourselves from random killing when mad; it is not just sociology. It is a trait that has survived in those that created functional tribes.

  • This video is ridiculous. We don't all have the same moral system in our head, and even if we did it is not an absolute throughout the entire universe.

  • @SumAwe69 You may not have understood the point of this video. Morality does not exist. Its a subjective construct. Neural networks on the other hand do exist, and the base principle for any living thing (in order for its species survivial) is genetically present. Every "moral" that we codefy to etchics is obviously pure bullshit.

As a side-note, since the making of this video I have changed positions 3 times. In a few months we can discuss when I change again. ;)

  • @GnosticAtheist Ah okay then, sorry I've been harsh.

  • @SumAwe69 Harsh? Some of the comments I got on this video would make a religious fanatic blush. Stating that "this video is ridiclous" and then explaining why you think so is am honest opening for discussion.

Also, I did a poor job explaining my point and by choice was agressive in manner to start some discussion. And guess what, I got one. Make that 968 comments... Learned a lot, including some of my points as well.

  • The major point opposed to this video is that patterns that result from nature or evolution are statistically observed because they only occur so often and so many times and they're only observed so many times before people have a "tendency" to conclude and encapsulate facts and truths based off it. Groups of people aren't guaranteed accuracy through their sensory perception just like one person singled out isn't and that's the point of skepticism towards the objectively knowable.

  • @hellstrueassassin I agree. I have altered position since the making of this video.

  • Just because you feel it, doesn't mean it's there

  • you are stating out that our brain developed some kind of ethical understanding of right and wrong due to evolutional incidents. so when morality is something that ought to be it can't be derived of something that has to be, as it is when morality is just a "program" of our brain. so when ethics or morality aren't something divine they simply don't exist. that what you call morality is just a usefull tool to make life in a group more save in order to rise the chance of survival.

  • @insignificanceoflife Oh! How I adore you, sir!

  • Oh, there 'is' an ethical center in the brain so we 'ought' to act according to it...gotcha

  • Eventually, everything does not matter at all.

Ethics are important for survival,if things won't see each other has a part of their race or with some meaning, then it will end up ugly(ww2 is an obvious example).

Overall,I see EVERYTHING has a part of my race, since we are all a part of existence. So,my ethics are connected to all-and that comes more out of my own views then the "biological" installment,in other words-it's capable of manipulation by thoughts and emotions.

    So,nihilists simply stop.

  • Hurr, monkeys show certain altruistic behavioural patterns, therefore X is objectively moral.
