Yes it should. Otterbox says this fits Curve 8520 / 8530 and Curve 3G 9300 / 9330

Can you store the phone in the holster with the screen and keyboard facing in? Seems like it would be very easy to smash the screen when bumping into something with it exposed to the outside.

Yes of course you can. Actually this is how OtterBox originally intended for you to slide in the phone.
Also as an extra point of interest, on modern OtterBox cases with the redesigned holster - you can put the phone in face in and face out as well.
