This is good stuff.
I went on treks in 86, 88, 90 & 92.
Then, I was fortunate enough to work on staff from 95-98.
I'm still trying to figure out ways to spend another summer out there.
You should check out the new documentary that just came out last month.
It's called "Philmont: the Documentary" and you can find it on-line at the Tooth of Time Trading Post. It's AWESOME!!!

This is awesome. My troop went in 98 and I'm in the process of cutting up the video we took. Anyone who has gone to Philmont or Backcountry packed in the scouts has experienced something special. Who doesn't want to go back?

I was there for the OA Trek in 1984(?) with some guys from different parts of South Dakota and Minnesota. One of the high points of my scouting career. It was an abbreviated trip of only about a week. I wish I could have done a full trip or even worked on staff.

One of my co-wokers son is returning from Philmont this week. Got me to thinking back to my trek in 1980. WoW, it's still fresh in my memory like it was yesterday. Most of group is still around. 2010 would be our 30th ann. I'd be great to go back with the gang once more! Can it be done?

Awesome!
I, too, was at my first of four treks to Philmont in 86.
I was there in June, though.
This clip sure makes me wish I knew where to find my pics from the trip.
Good times.
Thanks for posting this.

Great Video. Brought back a lot of good memories. I was there summer of '75. I will never forget standing in knee deep snow on the top of Mt. Baldy on the fourth of July. The temp was in the 70's and we were in shorts yet there was still all this snow. My troop was from Florida so for most of us it was our first snow. We had a blast. It did make going down the backside of Baldy easier, we just slid down most of the way on our wind breakers. Oh to be 14 again.
Thanks for jarring those memories

Yes I was on this trip. The boys have moved on to lives and families of their own.
