Steve Coll, President and CEO of the New America Foundation, and staff writer for The New Yorker

Coll became a staff writer for The New Yorker in September, 2005. He reports from Washington, D.C., and abroad on issues of intelligence and national security. His articles have included an analysis of the nuclear standoff between India and Pakistan, and a report on the education of Osama bin Laden.

Prior to joining The New Yorker, Coll was with the Washington Post, where he was the managing editor from 1998 to 2005. He started with the paper in 1985 and held positions as a feature writer, foreign correspondent, and editor. He was the Posts first international investigative correspondent based in London, and spent a number of years as its Southeast Asia correspondent. In 1990, he won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles, written with David Vise, about the Securities and Exchange Commission.
