Code-Time is a ten minute digital video made up of 3000 QR codes. Running at five frames a second, each barcode is an encoded frame from the introductory sequence to 2001 A Space Odyssey. This shorter edited version of the start of Kubrick's film focusses upon how humans are introduced to the concept of technology through an extraterrestrial artefact. To 'watch' this version of the movie the audience require mobile phones that are connected to the Internet to interpret each new frame of the sequence. Using a QR reader, each barcode can be decoded and allows the owner to see one frame of the movie at a time.
