Starting a new board this month to explain alot of the details that I left out in my last series. This is Video #2 of the process, The Art. Keep an open mind and be creative with the art you lay down. Remember it does not have to be perfect it just has to be for right now. If you don't like how it turns out, just finish the board and make another. You should see my first board. But I just kept designing and making new boards.

Have fun with it.

  • What kind of paint do you use and do you apply it directly to the board with no glass or resin on it?

  • @zZaugostinoZz - Any kind of water based paint for Styrene boards. A good source of water based paint is Airbrush inks. Check them out at your local art store. If you apply straight on the foam you will get the pattern of the foam. You can apply the art after the glass and before the flood and you will get the texture of the glass in your art. You can also coat your board with micro balloons prior to glassing to get an ultra smooth surface for art.

  • Respond to this video... or you can airbrush on top of the final board and then give it a clear coat. There are many ways to do it, experiment and have fun.

  • i never really broke it down per board yet. I have a lot of supplies since i have been making boards for a while. I buy the resin in bulk and the fiberglass in bulk 180 yard rolls. If i took the time I could do the math and seperate it all out per board, but just haven't yet.

    Keep watching.

The next vid coming up will be Highlights from the Skimbash in Santa Cruz Calif. last weekend.
