Omega Race on the VIC-20. Played with the Vice emulator.

OK, it looks like I really suck at this game. I think it was intended to be played with a paddle, because the joystick controls are so sensitive you barely have any control over your ship at all. So I think I'm doing pretty well, considering.

And yes, the game is really off-center. It's like that on the TV as well. It's just... like that.

The game itself has no color, it just allows you to choose a foreground and background color. The original arcade game had vector graphics, so I guess this makes sense. The VIC-20 doesn't have vector graphics though, so why didn't they come up with some colorful graphics for it?

  • IN THE YEAR 2003? LOL

  • @Metal1998 It's in the future past. This game was released in 1981 in the future about the past future 2003.

You should be able to center the screen when the initial menu appears using the vic20 cursor keys.

  • @succhiello Hmm.. I didin't know that. I don't think I ever knew that. VIC 20 games were always just off center, and we used this machine for years.

  • The ColecoVision port was better.

  • Check out the commodore elec. ltd v02 version. For Japanese Commodore 64.

  • @uzimonkey we all know this, we all played omega race in the arcade

  • @chicoflaco The arcade Omega Race wasn't so much black and white as it was vector graphics. It's kind of difficult to do color vector graphics..

  • @ClassicGarth the original arcade game was in black and white...omega race for vic20 was the best home conversion of all time, even better than the C64

  • As a kid, I never questioned the black & white graphics. They just seemed perfect and so did the controls & physics.
