You see those comments on ALL music videos for songs that are more than a decade old.
Comparing Portishead to Soulja Boy in order to support your theory is absurd. That implies that all music in the 90s was like Portishead. Which is false - there really was so much trash!

@imamassivewanker For some reason, super simplistic, repetitive (& downright awful) hip hop dance music has dominated the music scene for over a decade. Something happened in the late 90s where girls started to lose their minds and think that skinny whimp pimp punk playuhs were real catches & dancing like a stripper became an outlet for them akin to headbanging. Women and many dumb young men now envy uneducated thugs who made it big in spite of talent, & it was See Ya to bands like Portishead.
