Peter Schulberg, founder of the Eco-LogicalART Gallery, explains how the nonprofit art gallery repurposes landfill destined 14 x 48 fiit billboards into new art canvases. The original art is then re-displayed back on billboards. With "exhibits" in Los Angeles (twice) and San Francisco the work have been sen an asounding 40 million times. The gallery is about to launch "Second Saturday at Eco-LA" a series of monthly billboard art installations directly over the gallery. The "curtain drop" is JUNE 13th at 7PM-- the public welcome.

  • What kind of paint works best for the flexible vinyl?

  • Hello Sewn, most artists have used art store acrylics but some used latex exterior satin house paint. For works that will always be indoors, several have been painted in oils.

  • I would disagree with the presenter's use of the word "toxic." The billboards aren't toxic, just not biodegradable. Might mean the same thing to some folks, but toxic is more having the effect of a poison. Nevertheless, its great to keep the billboards out of the landfill.

  • Just wondering if the acrylic would chip when the tarp is rolled up or if it is OK and lasts a while? I haven't yet tried painting on my tarps. Thanks!
