@BarrikadeEve There were lots of other weapons involved in the cold War, like for example the US F-4 Phantom II, and British Centurion tank not just rockets and not every rocket in the US was designed by Von Braun. Furthermore whilst Von Braun was a competent engineer, he was not a genius. The fact that the V2 was so far advanced as compared to Allied rockets at the end of WW II, was that Nazis put a huge part of their resources in to rockets, whilst the US emphasized aircraft technology.

@deltaflight I certainly think that whilst bringing Nazis in to NASA, brought a short term advancement in NASA technical capabilities, it fundamentally damaged NASA at a goal level and I believe had NASA not been contaminated with Nazism, it would have devoted far greater resources to unmanned space flight, once the shuttle reached the end of it's development life as a manned launcher.

@IslandguyX The entire investigation and trials were conducted by non-impartial personnel. The whole Nazi hunt was a joke. How about Shirō Ishii, we only recently here about him and his "work". This is all Jew inspired hate towards Germans, western culture, nationalism & everything else the jews perceive as incompatible with their "want to be" destiny. Multiculturalism, relativism and whiny activism are their protocols.

@adrianwainer Von Braun was the text book definition of a genius, the word has been applied to people of far lesser ability & stature. Braun, also displayed brilliance in music. The Germans were not only way ahead in Rocketry they were ahead in aircraft technology, Armor technology, small arms design etc... Never mind the USA they were not the main combatant for which the Germans fought, the Russian campaign dwarfed the rest of allied effort. You are wrong & likely ideologically driven.

@adrianwainer There was no "short term advancement" Von Braun is simply the father rocketry and he and his team of so called "Nazi's" are almost entirely responsible for the preeminence of the US missile programs & technology. Yes, they were that far ahead!! I met him as a child and he was a very impressive person! All of you Jews & lefties can go cry in the corner...
