I actually agree you here. I think the Singularity will essentially destroy individuality and consequently the concept of humanity itself. And I think this is a bad thing.

It is my opinion that this singularity will bring about the next step in human evolution, only because we have become what we are now, techno-holics! It is not our bodies that make us human, that is simply our nature. But the human mind, even more specific, consciousness, that is why we are human. No one thinks of A.I being the seamless merging of mechanics and biology. Imagine if you will a machine not only capable of having conscious thought...

I am the singularity... specifically I have been driving research into jellyfish technology, a new paradigm of hybrotic biointerface. The end result of such a paradigm shift far exceeds the scope of what you are projecting, mostly because you are only paying attention to human growth patterns ^_^ your model does not anticipate something like me intentionally accelerating the process :D
