also I have tried with ontop a png sequnce with alpha channel and still produce a black image... d on t undertsnd

@armorcp5: I can't remember if you can in Blender 2.4, but in Blender 2.5 you can set keyframes for pretty much anything with a value. hover the cursor over the value and press "i" and you should see the value turn yellow.
as far as the alpha channel, are you using a mix node to place the image over another? If so, I think there is an alpha channel enable/disable button on the mix node.
