Jaared And Gypsy!

This is the sweet plucker, Jaared, along with a female companion of the same species (Eclectus). Gypsy is the red one. I love them both. Jaared in temporarily staying with me and I hope he lets his pretty feathers grow out. He's been to more than a couple of Vets and I've tried lots of remedies including only non colored pellets, more fresh fruits and veggies, an Elizabethan collar, a body sock vest, spraying him daily with spring water that contains pure aloe vera extract, giving him special toys for him to preen (so he's NOT over preening himself) lots of time out of his home (cage) time on parrot stands downstairs and so on and so on and so on....

My condolences, Lucinda, regarding Bently.  I hope his plucking didn't lead to an early demise. Was he old? i know even Ekkies can live upwards of 50 years.

So that's what's really going on. I see. That's Kee-Kee for you, thanks for saying that, because that makes true sense. Jaared having a crush on Kia makes all the difference. Plus he's at that age now.

I think , no I KNOW Gypsy has NOT forgotten him, in fact it was Thursday when I decided to take him upstairs first (alone) and she flew off looking for him. I actually have picures of her being fed by him & I may go to One True Media to post a slideshow and put it on YouTube. I think she likes him more than he likes her. She's older of the two, being nearly 17, or so and he is about 8 or 9 years old I think Jaared has a crush on Keekee (Kia) because when I let him out,he goes over to her cage

I never knew that, that's amazing! That is very important, and I could say that it's a definite responsibility of the parrots. But even though Jaared hasn't seen Gypsy for a while since he's a visitor, he STILL does care for her? Don't they get too used to seeing eachother after seeing eachother too much? Maybe Gypsy's territorial and she wants him to leave.

Jaared was "feeding" Gypsy, except that he didn't have any food in his beak at that time to give her. What parrots do in the wild includes mutual preening and the males "feed" the females sometimes! Gypsy acts like a baby bird in the morning when I go in the room, I will make a video of that next time... She likes hims and in the past she has flown off her perch to follow him if I take him out of the room.

Thanks for that video, Gypsy always wants the attention it seems like. I'm not sure what Jaared was doing with his head but I'd say it was funny, at least that's what he wants you to think. I wonder what in the world that was! I'd say next time he does it, try to make sure he's content (perhaps with you and being around Gypsy). Gypsy is the normal one, being as she always is.

There's a lot of demanding care Jaared needs, it must be really HARD work!
