This is the first track from my latest project. I've been getting really into atompunk lately or more accurately, realising there are a bunch of other people who are a little too into googie architecture, atom bombs and good suits. So I decided to take a stab at writing something with a 50s monster movie sound.
The track is based on the theme from a 1955 movie called "Tarantula" (available on archive.org as the copyright has expired).
I also included a theremin as I think Bernard Herrmann's soundtrack for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is pretty much the quintessential 50s sci fi soundtrack. I don't actually own a theremin so I had to make do with an emulator - I think it turned out ok!

The video is just a basic mash up of footage from "Tarantula" and a Superman short called "The Mad Scientist" (also available on archive.org)
