@goldendome10383 Sorry. I missed this reply. It all depends on Andrew Lambo, the corner outfielder they acquired in last year's Dotel deal. If he can hit for power in the bigs, then I say see what you can get for dealing a guy like Marte, or McCutchen, depending on his arbitration. Although, there's a good chance that Cutch won't be Super Two Arbitration eligible, meaning that the Pirates shouldn't have a problem keeping him around until he turns free agent at the end of 2015.
you seem to follow the pirates, probably more than i do. quick question: this starling marte is shaping up to be great in center, do you move mccutchen over to left or right? either way, marte - mccutchen - tabata could be one of the best out pirate outfields in a while. hopefully lincoln and alderson pan out as solid pitchers. still bummed about losing out on the miguel angel sano deal though. i really thought we'd sign him
Those guys were overrated; moderately above average veterans. They weren't championship level players. If they were, we wouldn't have been losing all those games. This is the first time in seventeen years that the Pirates actually have star level players coming through the system. Guys we have control over for at least six years. Alvarez, McCutchen, Tabata, Lincoln, d'Arnaud, Marte. They will be on the next good Pirates team. Still a little ways off, but those days are coming...
Pirates need this guy in there lineup in the worst way. Middle of next season he'l be up and along with Jose Tabata and Tim Alderson and Gorkys Hernandez and Brad Lincoln and the turn around Pittsburgh has been waiting for forever will finally start to happen. 2011 is the real year tho.
@wilzusuki Honestly, not really. Long as he gets his walks, and hits the ball over the fence 35-40 times a year, I'll take it.
