This is the story of Windchill the frozen colt who was rescued and continues to recover.

I have been watching this story unfold and wanted to share this with you....
Sincerely,
Beth in Illinois

The rescued colt named Windchill is improving after brush with death

DULUTH, Minn.—A 9-month-old colt rescued from the brutal northern Minnesota cold is improving.
The colt -- named Windchill -- was able to stand unsupported for a few hours over the weekend.
Windchill was near death when it was found near Duluth on February 9 -- on a day when wind chills made it feel like 30 degrees below zero.
When the colt was brought to Raindance Farms, it was suffering from dehydration, malnourishment, and hypothermia. It was unable to stand on its frost-bitten legs.
Over the weekend, Windchill was lifted to its feet with the help of a sling. On Sunday, it stood without supports for a few hours.
Well-wishers have already donated $935 to help offset the costs of Windchill's care.
Jeff Tucker of Raindance Farms who rescued Wndchill thanks Equine Allies for having helped accept donations on Windchill's behalf before they had the the special fund set up for him.

Donations are now being sent to:

Windchill Fund

  • Windchill is doing so well, my friends (the Dalbec's) tell me everything about him, i am so hopeful for a full recovery.

  • There are updates at Raindance Farms.Type that into your browser and it will take you there.

  • Beth...you are a heat seeking missile for a story of a horrible abused horse, and it always makes me cry!

I'm unable to donate at this time, but, Windchill will be added to a healing circle, and my own Altar for healing.

    Peace

  • But at least for a change, this story has a happy and beautiful ending filled with people who are caring and compassionate.

    Hugs!

  • It breks my heart that the little pony who fought so hard to survive died.

I was glad to know that windchill had someone to love him in his final days.

To the rescue people please do not give up.

For you have given something so few do in this world love and compassion.

Windchill is free to run and now knows no pain or hunger.

Windchill was blessed in his final days to know an unending source of hope and love.

God bless you for what you give so freely in this world to the animals.

    Thankyou

  • i know the story i live in MN there was a family who brought him to a boarding placce and the ppl didnt have shelter or anything. and he ended up freezing to the ground, sadly after all of his efforts he passed away

  • Who did this to Windchill? Has the person been arrested and charged with animal abuse? I just now saw this video and it breaks my heart. How can any human treat a defenseless colt like this? Only a monster can.

  • Godspeed Windchill. I'm sure you're running free in the warm fields of heaven. I'm very sorry for the pain you suffered here on earth.

  • Windchill brought so many together. We cannot forget what he went through before he passed. If we call ourselves a civilized society, how can we be so cruel to helpless animals that do not have a voice...WE have to be their voice...WE need to love and care for all the creatures...WE need to hold these monsters that did this to Windchill accountable and not tolerate such cruelty to the innocent that count on us to protect them.

  • We miss you Windchill....it still hurts to think of what you suffered before you were rescued. How can someone call themselves human when they chose to treat a precious colt like this, starving it and watching daily as it happened? Your legacy will live on. You will not have gone thru this in vain.

  • such a touching video

  • Oh wow,

such a sad video this poor colt who had to suffer through all of that, at least he had a good home before he passed away

  • Bless you Baby, You are running with the Angels now.
