We borrowed the Glidecam HD1000 from a friend and had chance play with it for the day. Its used to stabilise your DSLR footage by isolating the operators body movements and this is the film we made.

  • Would love some tips on how you balanced it with the 550D :)

  • @JSWoodhams It doesn't really make a difference what camera body you use as its all the same technique. Unless you have a specific problem, all I can recommend is practice and trial and error. Be prepared for a large learning curve to get the results you want.

  • @fearlessfreakarc well the T2i is an extremely light camera, I heard it can be a little difficult to balance?

  • @JSWoodhams For my setup I had quite a heafty 18-200mm lens which added a lot of weight. You can add an extra battery grip if you have one and that will significantly increase weight. But overall mine was just the lens and the body and worked great

  • very nice job, but one thing i do not understand, the 550d has no Autofocus so how did you managed to keep the "runner" in focus?? i also have a 550d and the only option is to focus manually. is it what you did there? did you focus manually while running?

  • @hokageismylifetoo2 Well if you look closely, the focus is very deep when the camera is moving. I therefore set the focal length before shooting and tried to stay the same distance whilst running. When there is some shallow focus, the lens is different and the camera is static. You'd have to have a remote rig to pull focus whilst running. I hope that helps

  • Gotta admit, this video made me nearly hyperventilate. Not only is it a great test of the tool, it also even has some odd form of... subsctance.

  • @fearlessfreakarc yeah I'll probably get myself a battery grip or something. Thanks for the advice :)

  • My personal favourite thing ever, made me laugh so hard love you guys :D
