Hornby Lord of the Isles Movie

Hornby Railways "Lord of the Isles" having a run round my layout. Loco bought from Bolton train fair. Motor was very noisy even after clean and lube. Replacement armature fitted, chassis magnet removed and small ballast weights fitted. It is still a bit noisy in reverse, it is very fiddly to take apart, it makes you realise what Triang (Rovex) took on when they first made these back in the early 1960's.

what track brand do you use? Hornby and Peco?

@plagovei Most of the track is modern Hornby nickel silver, but the points are older 1970's "System 6" with steel rails. They connect quite well with the modern track, they are not my favourite points but I'm using them to let through some of the older loco's with deeper wheel flanges.

@eoin730 This one was made in the early eighties ( I believe ) and it's only got 4 wheel pick up, even then there is still too much weight on the driving wheels leaving the cab end a bit light.

@eoin730 Yes, I knew when I bought it that it wouldn't pull many carriages, but I do allow myself some interesting one-off's.

Very interesting video, lots of good takes, particularly nearing the end. Seeing your finger appearing to change the points made me giggle.
