Noted arachnologist Rick Vetter talks about how to identify false black widow spiders with nearly 700 PMPs at the pest control technician school yesterday in Raleigh, N.C. Vetter was speaking at the North Carolina Pest Control Technicians School put together by the North Carolina Pest Management Association.
Thank you for posting this. I found a nest of spiders in the back of a cabinet where I store supplies and ruled out the black widow. . .thought it might be a brown widow, but internet pics and descriptions didn't match, and finally found the false black widow whose description pic and egg sac (found 1) match. I feel a bit better. 1 potentially poisonous spider every now and again is a given. A nest (about a dozen by the time I was done cleaning and vaccuming) is disconcerting.
