Roger Taylor interview, BBC Breakfast, 6-11-09: presenters re-iterated points about songs, live shows, originality and showmanship from BBC article on Queen and stated that Queen have sold "more than 300 million albums."
@imputanium According to other sources Michael Jackson and Elvis have sold more records than them and so has Madonna. Queens popularity couldn't match Michael, Elvis or Madonna's in the US. Queen are without a doubt one of the biggest selling acts ever though, definitely in the top 10 best selling ever.
BTW this poll the BBC has stated is 6 years out of date. In 2003 Queen had just sold more than 300 million according to the RIAA and the Times and Wikipedia. In the last 6 years Due to the popularity of not only the internet and the We will Rock you Musical stats estimate that they have sold another 50-70 million more albums world wide. This is also not including there huge popularity of downloads on sites like I-tunes
Thats correct. The beatles will always be the biggest act, but Queen are the second biggest in terms of record sales. They have spent longer in the UK charts have the biggest selling album in the UK and The Guinness World records has voted Bohemian Rhapsody and Dozens of other polls across the globe as the greatest song of all time....which it clearly is. The greatest album in terms of biggest selling is Thriller. But guess which Band gave Michael the building blocks to create it ;)
yet, the beatles still is the biggest selling act of all time. Allthough i have to be fair... Freddie probably wrothe the most famous song of all time :)
i thought abba sold like 370+ million making them second
