LA MAS SAMARCANDE in the town of Vallauris, France B&B
In the years before they opened Le Mas Samarcande, Mireille and Pierre Diot traveled all over the world in connection with their magazine jobs.
When they decided to settle down, they chose the beautiful French Riviera and bought a recently constructed Mediterranean-style home in the hills above the sea, only a five-minute drive from the beaches of Cap d'Antibes.
With guests in mind, the Diots renovated the house and made five lovely bedrooms.
Two very large rooms face the front garden, while three slightly smaller rooms face the back garden and have French doors opening onto the terrace that captures a view over Vallauris and to the hills beyond.
You can even see Picasso's home tucked amongst the trees, just across the valley. A
ll of the guestrooms exude quality and have obviously been designed by experienced travelers.
The rooms are spacious, have exceptionally large bathrooms that would rival the most deluxe hotel's, fine large towels, splendid linens, air conditioning, good lighting, and incredibly comfortable mattresses.
Every detail reflects loving attention, such as tables set with pretty blue-and-yellow china and lovely silverware each morning for breakfast.
