So theres a game I might end up making as part of a group.
The main character is a blob, and I'm the graphics programmer.
The whole thing screams metaballs to me, and they've always looked so pretty. =]
I gave SDL a blast at first... but 15 balls at ~30fps (on a pretty powerful machine) didn't seem good enough to me.
So what we have here is 50 metaballs running at a vsync'd 60fps through the power of OpenGL and GLSL. Yay shaders.
Edit: I've uploaded the fragment shader for people to look at, it's pretty simple and everything is controlled by the tweakable values at the top.

Just implemented Metaballs with C/C++, OpenGL and GLUT on my Macbook... 4 Metaballs: ~21 fps ... :'-(
