Oikocredit - Cambodia

PRASAC Microfinance Institution provides financial services to village households, small farmers and microentrepreneurs in Cambodia. Its network includes 18 branches, 91 sub-branches and 46 service offices in almost 9,085 villages across 24 provinces serving more than 100,000 active clients. Oikocredit was a founding shareholder when Cambodian Microfinance Institution (MFI) PRASAC commercialized in 2006 and as the transformation to full private ownership was completed, Oikocredit secured a 18% stake in the organization. In 2008, Oikocredit made a second investment to support further growth and as recently as of 2009 and 2010, PRASAC received another two loans, USD 1 million and USD 2 million in local currency from Oikocredit to reach more clients and expand the portfolio beyond 117,000 clients.
