After 21 years, The Ghostbusters may be making the way back to the big screen! Keep Watching for the details!

Hey Everyone I'm Chelsea Cannell thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies!

You may be asking yourselves, Why on earth has is taken 21 years for the 3rd installment of the Ghostbusters Franchise to make its way to the box office? Who knows, but one thing's for sure, Bill Murray isn't helping! The Big timer has been holding out on the flick for some time now and has made it pretty public that he's not too fond of the idea. Of course he probably has his reasons, but Sony may not want to hear them! The studio is hoping Murray will have a change of heart and the $150 million dollar movie can finally move forward.

The only problem is, even if Bill decides he's gonna do it, the star is notorious for relying on handshakes instead of contracts when it comes to upcoming projects. Which means he may say he's gonna do it, but there's no guarantee he's gonna show up when it actually comes time to blast some ghosts.

So without Murray, there is no movie, at least according to Sony. The Studio believes he is the missing link and apparently won't move forward without him -- something that is probably pretty frustrating to Dan Aykroyd! For years Aykroyd has been pushing the film forward, even putting pen to paper in an attempt to make the movie a reality.

When and if this thing actually gets going, all 4 stars of the first two flicks along with director

Ivan Reitman, will have the ability to nix the project IF they don't approve of the script. And with all that Murray's said thus far, that could definitely be the bust up of Busters 3.
But so far it seems to be moving forward. A script by "Office " writers Lee Eisenburg and Gene Stupnitsky, with minor touchups by Harold Ramis and Aykroyd has been delivered to the studio. Which means all that's left to do is wait for Murray to make the call. Good luck with that one, it's safe to assume they could be waiting for some time!

But what do you guys think? Can there be a Ghostbusters without Bill Murray? DO you think he'll sign on despite all his busters badmouthing? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

  • As long as Dan Akroyd writes it, I think they could do GB3 without ANY of the original cast...except Slimer

  • Bill Murray has made it very clear he will not do GB3. I guess that kills the whole project.

  • The wandering beard should make an appearance.

  • They need to make a reunion story if they make Ghostbusters 3. And try to make it a bit emotional. I always love it when they do that.

  • @Cytron1515 Its kinda not even bout the money, but more about Bill Murray whos holding it up. Each of the main actors all own rights to the Ghostbusters franchise, cus it was Murray and Ackroyd mainly who wrote the original story. So Hollywood has to sit on its thumbs until these guys ALL agree to going ahead with another sequel. There hav been many drafts of script, but each time wen passed to Murray, hes never been happy with it. The last one he posted it bk to producers shredded up.

  • The only thing I can think of for Ghostbusters 3 is bringing them bk, but digitally enhancing all those actors faces, with cgi, to make them look younger still, similar to what they did with Brad Pitt and Patrick Stewart. Cus the reason I say this is, I just honestly can think of any fresh new actors of today, suitable to carry on the torch of these guys, and still give us that same feel as the previous films, they were so of that time. I think Murray kinda must feel like this too.

  • I don't mean to sound like a ranting complaining lunatic but WHAT'S TAKING THEM SO LONG? The Hollywood executives greenlit Ghostbusters 3 two years & half years go. (After the sucess of the video game.) It's got a huge fan base and the original actors are willing to do anothter one so... It's gotta be money. It's always about the money.

  • so bill murray does garfield 2 which was shitty but he wont do an amazing must see ghostbusters 3? hmm

  • @whatsup668 Because hollywood never ruins good movies... ahem... i mean... look how great the new Indiana Jones movie was... not.

  • YAYYY it better be good hollywood CANNOT ruin a good movie
