what does this prove exactly? that if you drop a heavy weight into water it will be submerged! better to drop the thing onto concrete to test its inflated strength

There were not engines on the boat at the time of the drop test, however there was over 10,000 pounds of weight added to the boat as part of test requirements and additional weight added aft to simulate the engines.
