Guy's this is the beginning of an era for Zimbabwean "youtubing"
I want to bring a new edge to Zimbabwean debate that I hate found lacking.
Indeed Mugabe has been a dictator and indeed Zimbabwe has been and still is in a dire situation but today I aim to launch a new form of reporting on Zimbabwe.
Rather than "Mugabe bashing" or "Tsvangirai praising" I aim to step back, look at the Zimbabwean situation in the correct context and therefore place Zimbabwe and it's two main characters in the correct perspective.

Let us converse.

  • Please tell me the name of that intro song. I am from the States and wouldn't be familiar with that music. But I love it. Thanks.

  • @MikhaelMoshe this song is called Nomvula, by Freshly Ground ;)

  • You used Mr. Mandela as an example and directly compared him to Mugabe - the only difference is Mandela left power and never looked back at the political arena as a career again.. on the other hand Mugabe never did. Speaking as an "outsider" , Mugabe should not be in power as at now. Manipulating the constitution s he can run for president over and over again is not right. Zimbabwe has come a long way, one excellent way to start afresh it by Mugabe leaving.

  • yes that is the ONLY difference. But the reference about changing of the constitution is not true. The Zimbabwean constitution has never had term limits.

Right now we are drafting a new constitution that will include such a clause.

  • Ok then. Thanks for the clarification. So it's possible that they can put in such a clause that will limit term of office to two - four year term whiles Mugabe is in power?

I have seen videos on Al Jazera of some gentleman called "SHIRE" living in London and defending EVERYTHING Mugabe has done so far, denying there is any form of abuses going on. My only wonder is why he has not moved back to Harare yet, since he believes Mugabe has been ruling really well. Then I got to know he is a veteran

  • Of course it's possible. It's happening now. Consultations for the new constitution have began..it is a people driven process, starting from scratch.Mugabe has no power over this process...maybe influence. A referendum will be held next year in July.

As for support for Mugabe, unlike what most people think, he enjoys a lot of Support in Zim and abroad. The west exaggerates his "unpopularity"...just watch one of his rally's on tv. I cannot comment on Shire's political endeavors.

  • Many Zimbabweans have committed collective suicide by supporting low quality leadership in politics who lack the vision, courage and the will to do so.The inclusive government has spent more time raising money than debating issues or push policies to help the citizens. Politics is about distributing resources for the citizens not a business.
