This is a time-lapse movie (2-sec interframe interval) of the pigment containing chromatophores in the isolated scale of a Betta fish, showing the aggregation of pigment granules caused by bath-applied epinephrine (100 uM). The video was made by Scott Currie at U.C. Riverside, using a Digital Blue QX3+ microscope camera in a neuroscience lab course (CBNS 120L).
I'm trying to get this to work for an introductory cell biology course. what is the epinephrine made in? Is there any pretreatment you're using? Is this from a pet store type Betta? Thanks in advance!
