Poor guy, he was just trying to do his job, for all we know, the crossing that CSX out in may not have been the issue, rather than how the road around it was repaired. Remember, the concrete slabs that MOW guys of the railroad puts down, have to be flat for the trains to pass over.
-
How hard is it to slow down for the crossing? Being that way, it may save someone's life that may have otherwise gotten hit by the train because most people don't look for trains anyway.

What a jerk!

@ACLTony I know - I am a civil engineer ...the costs would be amortized over many years and it could be ARRA tiger grant money - remember all of that non bank bailout taxpayer money that was available for improvements? an underpass needs only to built once....an underpass /over pass has maintanance costs about equal to a fully signalled crossing....it could be done if the political folks have the will. costs are shared between the road and rail and it is a good option....my $.02

Easy jdeergp...I work as a civil engineer in a...sewage plant...I only want process your food remains..lol!

@shawnmutant - Unfortunately the cost of building overpasses/underpasses, even small ones, nowadays can run into the millions. Ridiculous, yes, but now environmental impact studies, frequent inspections, liability issues while construction goes on, cost of materials/labor has made it financially impractical on rail lines that have light to moderate traffic on them. Then add the cost of maintaining that over/underpass and one can see why railroads today balk in most cases.

Any government official is a corrupt pile of shit that needs to be flushed down a sewer! They suck shit and smell like shit!

@mpracing4 slight correction: This is copied from the CSXT website: "..If you are a city, municipality or local government official with property code compliance issues, contact us at TellCSX or call 1-877-835-5279..." Not a public hotline!
-
Here in WV, the state DOT owns and installs all signs on county/state roads regardless of in a city or not. The DOT also buys the crossing materials and the railroads install them. The public calling the railroad doesn't do any good because it isn't the railroads responsibility, it is city or state responsibility. CSX doesn't own that sign and there is a good chance that 800 number was a crossing emergency hotline not a complaint hotline which would make that sign a violation of federal law.

@shawnmutant Lol, that guy's foreman will probably say "wtf" and that is that. You don't get fired for something like that on the railroad, not if his Union chairman has a say in the matter.
the worker will probably get fired for not doing what he was told -
Why doesn't this mayor do something more meaningful for your tax dollar?
An under or overpass would be the best solution that makes the most sense.
