MICKY ROMAN VS ANTONIO ESCALANTE

Friday, February 26: El Paso's Antonio Escalante defeated Mickey Roman of Juarez in an unanimous decision Friday night at the Haskins Center, televised on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights. Escalante improves to 23-2, with 20 knockouts. Roman falls to 28-7, and is 6-7 in his last 13 fights. Escalante and Roman grew up in Juarez on the same street, even fighting a little bit when they were kids, but Escalante called that just "slapping around." Escalante is ranked as the #1 contender in the world in the featherweight division by WBA, and top 5 by the WBO and IBF.
