30 dollar is limitless internet (no charge at all) where as at some point in your plan you will end up paying extra fee's.
wifi and wireless (built into phone) is free though, so when I'm at home ill use wireless g or wifi and when I'm at work ill use the Verizon 3g network so that I don't lag up my works t1 connection.
its a great phone and I cant wait to get one. I was thinking about HTC phones but the ones for verizon get really really bad reviews

Yes. WiFi connections are free - you just need an available WiFi network.
