Ballad of a Soldier is a 1959 Soviet film directed by Grigori Chukhrai and starring Vladimir Ivashov and Zhanna Prokhorenko. The film is set during World War II and shows how the Red Army soldier Alyosha tries to make it home during a leave, meeting several civilians on his way and falling in love with Shura.

Wow, I just saw on IMDB that Zhanna Prokhorenko passed away last month. That is so sad. RIP you beautiful woman!

The girl (Zhanna Prokhorenko) was also in the war movie Attack And Retreat. She was amazing in that film too.......and drop dead gorgeous!

This was an amazing movie, Volodya Ivashov and Zhanna Prokhorenko had amazing chemistry. Zhanna was STUNNING, she had the face of an angel.

fantastic film so happy and sad......and what a beautiful young couple,the war brought them together and seperated them..........and the young ladt in this film is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS........a 10/10 film.......keep your holywood war films.
