"Star of Altoona" is an excerpt from Part 1 of a two-part documentary movie "Checkertails", created by Mysticpuma which features the history of the USAAF 325th Fighter Group. "Checkertails, Part I" details the Fighter Group's history during its P-40 and P-47 era, 1942-1944. This excerpt and the full length movie incorporate never before seen WWII film footage from WWII, interviews with veteran 325th pilots, as well as superb IL-2 derived CGI scenes depicting a variety of aerial combat events. This is awesome. I come from the same branch of the Green family as Herky. Growing up in the 60's my Grandfather used to tell me stories about him which did not mean much to me at the time. With age came a greater appreciation of what he and others did for this country. I was lucky enough to connect with him later in his life and had many stimulating conversations about the war and flying. I actually visited He and his lovely wife in 2004 where they treated me like family. I'll never forg
