This audio tape was preserved on reel to reel.
In June 1976, there was a city wide high school jazz band competition.
I was there, playing bass trombone and playing as loud and hard as the guitarist.

man, i was in valley jazz from 97-00. some of the best memories ever...those rhodes pianos that you guys had - i sat in with the jazz band in 01 or 02, cant remember, and as a thank you, the band director gave me 2 of them! they were sitting in the back since the 70's or 80's, and were in perfect condition!

Those Fender Rhodes were like magic to my ears.

They were heavy in style abck in the 70's and must have faded...but still listen to Herbie and others who really made that instrument special

music saved me from getting into trouble. I always had a home in the band room. During the riots and all else, my musician brethren were there for me...;-)

to bad there isn't a jazz band at valley anymore...

Probably because we keep loosing our band directors. We've had at lest 4 different band directors in the past 6 years.

we have a jazz band, we just suck.

stephenson was a jazz musician and we had a half way decent jazz band.

but this year with chun, we have to start over again

we started with nothing in my sophomore year, the team spirit grew and by senior year we got tighter...one thing was the n=band director Dr. Boyce made us sit in a circle and face each other and play instead of lining up across, this added to the team spirit so we could listen to each other and want to practice more ...;-)

went to valley in 75 -76 was a great time in my life, vegas was great place to in the 70.s

Class of '98 grad. Valley's unique position near the las vegas strip and the mall made for interesting times. Jack in the box was a close joint for a good, plan your ''get the hell away from school plan'' early morning meal. Mt charles a good place for ditch day, before the yuppies took over.
