This is a clip from Antoine Fuqua's feature film directorial debut, "The Replacement Killers"(1998) starring Academy Award nominees Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino (Oscar winner for Might Aphrodite).
And also starred Clifton Collins Jr. (Capote)
and Michael Rooker.
Executive producer: John Woo.

The film soundtrack featured Ithaka's underground hip hop classic "Escape From The City of Angles"
(featuring chorus vocals by Marta Dias)
from his first album,
FLOWERS AND THE COLOR OF PAINT,
recorded in Lisbon.
Only 1500 copies of the record
were ever manufactured.

Antoine Fuqua has since directed:
Training Day
(Best Actor Oscar went to Denzel Washington),
Tears of the Sun (with Bruce Willis),
King Arthur (Clive Owen and Keira Knightley)
and Bait (Jaime Foxx), with major upcoming films
such as "Brooklyn's Finest" and "Escobar" on the way.

This scene featured was shot on location at the legendary
(now defunct) Belmont Tunnel near downtown Los Angeles,
an internationally recognized graffiti hotspot.

The album FLOWERS AND THE COLOR OF PAINT (produced by Pedro Passos and Joe Fossard) was considered by the respected Jornal Publico as one of the most important records of the 1990's in its home territory of Portugal and was nominated for three Blitz Premios (The Portuguese Grammy) for;
Best New Artist, Best Male Vocalist and Best Album in its year of release, 1995.

Ithaka's (aka Darin Pappas) third album, "SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF SOMALIA"(2001) produced by Conley Abrams III appears #10 on amazon.com's list of "BEST" rap records of all time. A song from this album was showcased in the 2007 hit X-Box 360 game NBA 2k7.

but immigrated to Lisbon, Portugal
