Originally recorded as High On The Mountain Of Old Mokami by Gerald Mitchell (The Labrador Balladeer) from Makkovik and Happy Valley, Labrador, this was only the second song ever written by Byron "Fiddler" Chaulk of Pearl River. It is said to be a celebration of the land and life in Labrador, inspired by a mountain near Northwest River, and has become a Labrador standard, even though Fiddler himself was neither musician nor singer. Thanks for sharing. :-)
