Two afternoon scenes of Vline N class diesel locomotives on country passenger services near Newport, Victoria filmed 3/8/2009. The first scene shows a freshly painted N466 in the "Cheeseburger" livery heading towards Melbourne, while the second scene has N471 in the red/blue livery heading towards Geelong.

The N Class diesel locomotives have been operated by V/Line since 1985, and used almost exclusively on passenger train services. Their 2500hp EMD engines easily handle the typical load of between 3 and 8 passenger carriages. The recent gauge conversion of the line between Melbourne and Albury means a small number of N class locomotives will be gauge converted from broad gauge to standard gauge to operate the proposed passenger services on the line.

A ready to run HO scale model of the N class locomotive was released by Auscision Models in November 2010, details are on their website www.auscisionmodels.com.au.
