Small Stream Adventures - Urban Redfins - Jewels in the Grime

A hectic hour spent catching some of the loveliest roach imaginable, astonishing because they come from an urban stream treated as a little more than a convenient drain by Coventry City Council. They are rare creatures in this river and I love to fish for them. That they grow quite large (for such a small water) is a bonus, that they are tricky to catch is an extra, but you'd never know that as nine fell in a brief time before building works upstream wrecked the session by releasing lots mud into the water turning the water chocolate coloured, as if the river was in full flood but without any increase in water volume. While it lasted it was just amazing sport. Urban Redfins truly are Jewels in the Grime. Enjoy!

For the most part it's not deep enough to run a float through without snagging bottom the whole time but that pool could be float fished as its a good three feet deep, but I find free lining very effective there.

Fenlandfisherman, I follow your channel and really enjoy your videos too. My favourite is the one about rudd - we just don't get rudd like that in the MIdlands or if they are here, then they are very hard to find. I might have to make a journey over your way this summer and try for them myself.
