My faith in internet debates was brought back when I changed someone's mind about gay marriage. Although it was in a specific debate forum where we actually care about others opinions. Youtube comments will never get anywhere.

So why respond if you have enough of debating? What do you think why people in the parliament discuss new laws? It's to point out the flaws the others haven't considered and to get the very best result. Otherwise many laws would have too many legal loopholes. One single person is not able to take everything into consideration, multiple people are and that's why debating is a very important thing. It's surely no coincidence why humans have developed such a distinct type of communication.

Really? You can just understand one thing about people and thats it. Debating is useless and a waste of time. It proves nothing, it changes nothing. It is just there to self-confirm the thing you are talking about.

You are not going to learn much from people, just the reason or the emotions of why they are writing what they are writing.
