Tourism in Puerto Vallarta accounts for more than 90% of the local economy. As with most places in the world due to the economic collapse and swine flu, tourism has suffered. It is not just a matter of tourist not being present in Puerto Vallarta now but even bookings into 2010 are way down.
What this means to the savvy traveller is opportunities. The Palladium Vallarta Resort and Spa where Cindy and I stayed is already less than $700 + taxes from Vancouver BC during January 2010.

Who wants to ride a tour bus in Vallarta ??? We always rent a motorcycle and go exploring. believe me you can find parts of town that are very interesting that the busses don't go.
