Great video! Sweden were the greatest power in Northern Europe at this time, we didn't rule over Denmark, but we ruled over Finland in almost 600 years, lol.

Denmark survived, and is still a sovereign state today, just because the Dutch, French and the English said "no" through diplomacy to the Swedish demand to annex Denmark and the Danish crown. The "no" is pretty easy to understand. They didn't want a too powerful northern state in Sweden.

Sweden would have controlled all commerce in the North.

Sweden didn't afford and had no wish to upset these countries, although the empire would have secured all northern commerce.

@SAHELLMAND Well this proves how ignorant you are. The Dutch werent alone in saving Denmark, The Germans and Poles played a big part in that aswell.They forced karl X to attack immideatly with lesser troops and were thus defeated. Karl XII signed an "alliance" with Ottoman Empire just because they needed an ally against Russia, But the Turks never did one single thing in that war that benefited the Swedes. In the great northern war Sweden stood alone.And Sweden were never liked by its neigbours

@SAHELLMAND During the Swedish conquest of entire Denmark except for Copenhagen the Dutch navy came and saved the remaining free Danes in Copenhagen while the Germans and Poles marched in to denmark from the South and liberated it. Im talking about Karl X war now.During the Great Northern War Sweden alone fought its battles and won many great victories, Defeated Denmark twice in the war and defeated Poland aswell. But the Russians use of Sorched earth tactic broke the army and then Poltava came

@joonte1010 Poles have nothing to do with Denmark nor does the Germans, nor the english. Holland did save Denmark when you sieged Copenhagen, true enough. But the only way Germans and Poles helped Denmark was by making alligiance to each others during the Great Nordic war. To not say it straight i dont think there was a lot of nations who liked Sweden and who wanted Sweden to be in Power in scandinavia, Because of your alligiance to the Ottomans, which was pretty much hated by everyone in europe

@SAHELLMAND The Dutch,Germans and Poles saved the Danes from the Swedes because they didnt want Sweden to become to strong and big, But also/Mostly because they didnt want Sweden to get monopol to tax the ships getting in and out from the baltic sea. Im also sure the Germans and Poles were a bit pissed at Sweden and wanted payback for the earlier wars on their territories.

@SAHELLMAND Denmark had a good navy, Sure! But still it werent the 2nd Best in Europe. Im sure England,Holland,France,Spain still were ahead of your navy.. They were more experienced with all their colonies around the world.

Denmark was a local power, There is no doubt in that. If that pains your to much stop read about your history! Sweden lost its status as a European power to Russia after the Russian victory in the Great Northern war.. You dont see get all upset like a Buthurt dane right?

@joonte1010 Take a guess and learn some military tactics, would make good in your head. Denmark did had the 2nd best navy wether you denie it or not. And they had it exactly cause they were a colonial power, so it was quite needed for our empire. But on the other hand Sweden was a superpower in Europe which ment they of course would have to have some of the best infantry in europe, and they had.

Maybe we werent as big as sweden were but we werent as you describe us far from, Local powers are stats like Hannover Brandenburg, you speak of this as if you were a royal ass yourself. Your arrogant to believe in this i suggest you yourself go read up on all these stories your claming, I Know we were saved by Holland but take a guess why?

@SAHELLMAND Well it is, Denmark didnt have a military strenght or considered as a European Great power among the courts of Europe. This is something a few ignorant Danes offcourse dont know. You lost your land territories abroad in Europe to Sweden (Except for the islands). I suggest you to read your history over again.. Books or whatever made by accepted historians and not butthurt Danish patriots. Denmark were saved by Holland and England twice aswell when the Swedes were about to conquer.
