@Lebeauize You know what? I thought the exact same thing. Both movies are very similar in every way too. In both films, we cheer for both the cop and the robber. I only wish Deep and Bale had more of a scene together and I also wished that they had a better bulid up to it like Mann did with Pacino and Deniro. But I was still happy to see them together at last.

I wouldn't say there's any "out acting" going on here, rather, two entirely distinct acting styles. we have depp's passionate, animated and very believable display of vehemence and contempt for the character of bale, acted out in his trademark chauvinistic theatrical style. and then we have bale's more subtle, finely engineered, coolly played out mystique, able to convey a series of emotion with the most trivial facial movements, with a collected firmness that has even depp faltering. rich...
