Owned 2010-11. But don't let multiple-traffic-offence friends drive your 40 year-old car. Especially when the authorities have already told you it is the oldest surviving Maxi 1750 left on UK roads. The colour is one of British Leyland's 'interesting' efforts, called 'Limeflower'. The number plates were silver-on-black at delivery when new and the rear plate is the original. No idea what the camera fault is though. This car was superb - surprised all that saw and drove it. The time has come to drop the blinkers?

  • @johnsaab It's funny how things work out.

  • Little did he know that a few months later it would be his!..Very nice.

  • Nice well kept example!! Check out "The Stone Tape 1972 (1/11)" on here for some period footage of an early cable-change (I think) teal-blue austin maxi being driven around by Jane Asher!!!

  • I learned to drive in a brown T reg. My dad had it for about 12 years :-)

  • what a beauty. makes me want to own one

  • Smaller than a Focus, more room inside than a Mondeo.... BL were years ahead of the game, shame it all went tits up for BL in the end!

Lovely car, there's memories of my childhood, my parents had three Maxis during my early years (early 80s). Always been my fave car that they had - I want one myself nowadays!

  • First car I ever had back in 1984 ( a J-reg 1971 model ) and it was the same colour as yours ; limeflower green!

The gearbox was crap and it was a rustbucket, but it handled fab and had ACRES of room for 5 people plus mountains of luggage!

Yours looks a peach still and it makes me quite envious!

I would have NEV 822J back again just to be DIFFERENT from all the other sheeple.

  • This reminds me of my Grandma's Maxi - hers was the same year.

  • What a beautiful motor. Watching that really makes me regret selling mine.

  • @ianmax69 She's a credit to your work,lovely motor.
