My favourite is bringing up Marx. One of my profs is a Marxist historian so I always get bonus points with him for bringing up Karl but all my classmates always have blank stares on their faces.

When I was in college, I took and honors science class. Every day the teacher would say something, this guy Tim would make a comment that was clearly wrong, the teacher would diplomatically correct him, then this girl who seemed to have no relationship with Tim would say "I don't think that's what Tim was saying. [insert her twisting what TIm was saying here]". It was so funny.
