Ainlsey Having Trouble Wearing PMV

Only a few minutes later. This time she has trouble right away. She likes to chew on the green therapy tube so I try to distract her with it but it does not work this time. These videos were posted for people on the tracheostomy.com forum so we could get feedback about how she was doing, which was rather inconsistent at the time of these videos. PMV stands for Passey-Muir Valve. It goes on the tracheostomy tube. The valve opens when they breath in and closes when they exhale/breath out forcing the person to breath out the mouth/nose instead of the trach. The passing of air through the vocal cords is what makes sound. Typically people who require a trach to breath cannot make sound without the valve unless there is enough air pushing up past the trach.
