Art is the product of beautiful creation from an artist who has filled a piece of their work with enough emotion to catch the eyes of those questioning it.

My definition of "art":
Art is the product of the following 3-step process:
1. Do something.
2. Call it art.
3. Believe it, or convince someone else to believe it.

thanks, very hard to define, but you did a good job.

learn to embrace the stick in the eye as a suggestion for thought

That art is a urnal?

This question has been argued over hundreds and hundreds of years...
i beleive Duchamp summed it up as well as anyone will ever be able to

i agree with your resume of what is art but i still think that good sense should be taken serious, like art for me it's a responsability that i have also to the world, to show who i am, yes, but also to help teaching those who haven't got so many talent as i do or sensitivity. only the big argument of: expressing emocions and feelings as i see them, defeet me.
it's good that you tube can have this kind of conversations and trade of thougths. thanks.
Get on with it. Jesus. You take forever.

hello rodney--Joseph Conrad said "Any work that aspires to the condition of Art, must carry its justification in every line."
this applies to all art: there must be more tham mere existence of the "art". a pile of smelly dung will capture attention and inspire comment and thought, if only how to avoid the dung, or how to escape from its stink. that doesn't make it Art.

a point well taken,,,,ill have to think about that awhile,,,,but i like the idea of smell avoidance as art,,,,yeah,,,,a youtube video of people tripping over themselves to avoid the smell of "art"

Sorry Rodney, that was a question that could go on forever! It's just that while I think conceptual art is very valid I have a hard time with some of it. But what do I know?

i enjoyed the question, but for sure it would take a long time to deal with this question, and once a conclusion was reached, it would start all over again,,,
thanks
