Catalin Taranu 5p analyses the fuseki in a game between himself and former European Champion Ilia Shikshin 7d at the 52nd European Go Congress in Leksand, Sweden
Yes, but black will never get to play a gote sequence like that because before the temperature of the game gets low enough that black might want to play the sequence, white will happily play 17x6 in sente, after which the stone can't be saved anymore.
I'm not catalin, but I believe I can answer your question. If black bumps up against white, W will connect at 17x6, so if B then connect under to save the stone, W can capture three stones by cutting at 16x5.

rhapsody - when b connects under it's atari. w must connect at 17x9 then b can connect at 16x5.

Catalin; at 2 mins 11 secs in, isn't it still possible for black to save the stone on the right by playing at 18x7? it's gote, but seems big.
