@twodeltas he has never done any substantial grappling training, hed be totally useless on the ground as would everyone without years of training. He has a great spirit though and could be trained for mma if he was motivated and in his prime just like machida.

@OMFGDmanrules 1 person uses shotokan sucessfully,machida,1 person in 17 yrs.Yahara is a great karateka but this isnt fighting, its a points match with heavy contact allowed by appearance.

I AGREE...THIS ART HERE IS SACRED AND MORE BEAUTIFUL

Firstly, this guy is amazing, not gonna bother going into detail, he just is! Secondly, you can't compare this to MMA, they're totally different things, Karate is an ancient martial ART, MMA is a SPORT, and has no-one thought about the fact that mma means MIXED MARTIAL ARTS!!! Some of those guys probably use shotokan others, mui thai, whatever, dont compare them!

wow no wonder those asain make good fighting movies there alwas fakeing it

With Yahara Sensei, the fight isn't over until your opponent has stopped moving (or breathing!): he is just as dangerous on the ground as he is on his feet. And I have great respect for the"ukeni" - his training and demonstration partners: Sensei Yahara's version of control is to leave bruises, rather than lay you out cold. Very much looking forward to training with him in a couple of weeks - and just a bit scared, too!

the swiftness of his strikes astound me.
no, really they do. my eyes are like this O_O

i totally agree with you
if you are training for ring fighting and full contact training with in the same fashion is very important
thai pads and mits are very important for developing good free flowing combination's
and i my self do work a lot of knees and elbows. did you know in fact all the exact same techniques are available hidden within the kata of karate im just asking cuz most ppl have no idea.
